GTC Announces ‘Doing Business in the US’ Series

At Galway Technology Centre (GTC), one of our primary goals is to help and assist our members in their efforts to scale.

In order to reach the next step in their scaling journey, businesses need to identify and access new markets. In this regard, gaining a business foothold in the US market has been regarded as the key corporate objective for many companies.

This has been the case throughout the history of GTC – and it remains true today.

That is why GTC is announcing a new ‘Doing Business in the US’ series, which will provide advice, guidance and important information to GTC member companies and technology companies throughout the West who are looking to scale their business into the lucrative US market.

Entering the US marketplace brings multiple benefits such as generating greater revenue, opening investment opportunities, diversifying, access to capital and talent recruitment. However navigating these different elements and the specific demands required to succeed in the US can also be a challenge.

Over the course of this series we aim to provide some insight into how to tackle the challenge of succeeding in the US, with intelligence provided by those who understand that market, who are already operating on that side of the Atlantic and from those who have already successfully navigated this journey.

The series will be delivered over the course of the next year and will see a range of events and seminars organised. An outline of the practical aspects of the US market will also be provided, along with details on the supports available to Irish companies who are looking to expand their operations into this important market.

Some of the topics we hope to address over the course of this series include:

  • Where do you start? Choosing a market entry strategy.
  • Understanding the domestic US market and US business culture
  • Navigating the Regulatory Journey.
  • Investment Trends and Requirements in the US.
  • How to grow a Sales team in the US.

The series will involve contributions from a range of expert speakers associated with bodies like WestBIC, Enterprise Ireland, Local Enterprise Office (LEO), Select USA and other – as well as industry leaders who have in depth knowledge of the US market.

The first event in the ‘Doing Business in the US’ series will be held on September 20th in GTC, when we will hear from Kevin Malecek, Director of Economic Development and International Trade, Mentor, Ohio as well as those companies who have participated in the inaugural Mentor Ohio visit, led by GTC CEO Oliver Daniels.

We would encourage anyone interested to save the date and to keep an eye out for further details about this event and the wider series over the coming weeks and months.
