Centre News:

1Gigabyte Fibre Upgrade:

In 2008, we were the first enterprise to connect to the Galway MAN with our own dedicated fibre to the building, earlier this month in anticipation of the future needs of our community, we upgraded our connection to 1GByte with multiple redundant connections to tier 1 carriers.

We are the first centre West of The Shannon to provide this level of dedicated fibre connectivity and it shows our continued commitment to technology and keeping ahead of the requirements of the digital enterprises that are based with us. At the announcement of the upgrade, Finn Krewer, Head of Development at 9th Impact said: “Every day tens of thousands of people from all over the world play 9th Impact games on their mobile phones with 98% of our player base located outside of Ireland. The games communicate with our servers – sending and receiving information, so having super-fast and reliable broadband connection is critical to our business. Our newest game, launching next July, is a live multiplayer racing game which has significantly higher real-time communications demands so we are thrilled to have a world class fibre connection direct to our door. The 1Gbps connection will allow 9th Impact to continue to expand globally from our HQ at the GTC.”

Lighting Upgrade:

We will have completed the first phase of our energy efficiency lighting upgrade, replacing lighting throughout the public areas with low energy usage LED lights. This month we are planning phase 2, if you would like your office to be involved please let us know [email protected]
