We’re Hiring, Regional Outreach Manager

Galway Technology Centre (GTC) is a growth facility for technology and digital enterprises in the West Region. One of Ireland’s larges technology enterprise centres, GTC is currently home to 41 companies, with a workforce of 320 high skilled and dynamic people. GTC is a post start-up greenhouse for HPSU’s, micro’s and dynamic SME’s in the knowledge economy to develop and grow. GTC are a commercially focused, successful social enterprise, established in 1994 by the Digital Task Force to encourage the development of technology-based industry in the West of Ireland.

GTC has recently been awarded funding from Enterprise Ireland under the REDF (Regional European Development Fund), to establish ‘Academy West’, which will represent a physical expansion of the Mervue Centre, plus a strategic expansion of the Centre to incorporate a more diverse and specialised set of supports including regional outreach & collaboration, hands-on business growth mentoring, and a global entrepreneurship programmes. As part of this growth model GTC now wish to appoint a:

Regional Outreach Manager (to 66k)

Reporting directly to the CEO of Galway Technology Centre (GTC), this role is a three year fixed term contract and will be responsible for:

Primary Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Execution of regional partnership strategy focusing on the following initiatives:
    • a) Atlantic Economic Corridor (AEC)
    • b) Burren Lowlands Enterprise Platform
    • c) WestBIC Managed Enterprise Programmes
    • d) Údarás na Gaeltachta Gteic’s rollout initiative
    • e) WDC’s supported DigiWest project
    • f) New Frontiers in collaboration with GMIT iHub’s
  • Collaboration with key regional stakeholders to build working relationships around Academy West enterprise platforms, seminars, events and scale up facilities. Key stakeholders in this sphere include NUIG BIC/ GMIT iHub’s / Portershed / LEO supported Enterprise Hub’s / HBAN WXNW / OMiG / WestBIC’s and other regional incubators in private or community ownership.
  • Policy & Programme support for EI Regional Plan / Future Jobs Ireland / Ireland 2040 / EU Interreg Initiatives / Enterprise Week coordination.
  • Engagement with regional incubator clients and coordination of outreach events and networks.
  • Support partners with Enterprise/Tech events coordination, promotions and recruitment.
  • Conference attendance and GTC representation in regional enterprise forums/networks.
  • Introduce online publication and a dedicated website “TechLife West” to include tech vacancies, and other resources promoting the west tech cluster in collaboration with other regional players.

The Successful Candidate will Possess:

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and I.T. skills.
  • Digital Media, marketing and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work well as part of a small team, and to understand and implement the vision of the CEO.
  • A passion about the potential for platforms to enable start-ups, and enthusiastic about playing a role in accelerating the Irish start-up ecosystem.
  • The ability to create and disseminate effective ‘online’ resources to support work / programme engagement.
