What is a cookie?
A cookie is a text-only string of data that is entered into the cookie file or “memory” of the web browser on your computer. It will typically contain the name of the domain from which the cookie has come, the “lifetime” of the cookie, and a value, usually a randomly generated unique number.
How they work?
A cookie is a text file that stores three pieces of information – the time you visited a site, the site you visited and a session number. The next time you visit that site, it searches your computer for this text file. If it finds it, it can access the session number, and use this to auto-fill a user name or similar. It does not store sensitive or personal data.
