About the Galway Technology Centre

Galway Technology Centre (GTC) was established in 1994. The establishment of the Centre was one of the key initiatives of the Task Force set-up in Galway following the closure of Digital Corporation's manufacturing plant in the city.

The original centre became a focal point for many new and emerging technology companies in the Galway region and between 1994 and 2000, the Centre housed over 30 new technology companies creating, between them, in excess of 300 jobs.

The Centre was completely redeveloped over a 16-month period between 2000 and 2001 with support from Enterprise Ireland. The new 50,000 sq.ft. technology centre is now more than double its original size and can house over 40 SMEs and micro enterprises on site at any one time.

Each workspace is designed to facilitate the needs of IT companies from start up and research and development stages through to development and expansion. The units range in size from 500sq. ft. (46.45 sq. mtrs) up to 2500sq. ft. (232.3 sq. mtrs.) and each incorporates a high level of technology fit-out and facilities.
